Who is the Jam for the Cure?

Jam for the Cure is a non-profit organization that provides aid to Calhoun County, Michigan residents who have been diagnosed with cancer. Our organization raises funds to support our neighbors by assisting with medical co-pays, prescription and medical equipment expenses, as well as cost for transportation to receive treatment.

How did the “Jam” get started?

Jam for the Cure was founded in 2008, by Kenny Huggett and his wife Theresa, with the goal of supporting cancer patients. Prior to the event's creation, the couple had been active with the ACS Calhoun County East Relay for Life event for years. However, after Kenny was diagnosed with cancer, he felt a calling to do more.

Kenny, a local musician and frontman for several local bands, wanted to create a fundraising event that was accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial situation. Thus, Jam for the Cure came into being.

Since its inception, Jam for the Cure has raised thousands of dollars each year to help people battling cancer. Initially, all the money raised was donated to the ACS and the Calhoun County East Relay. In 2017, the Jam for the Cure Endowed fund was established with the Marshall Community

Foundation, and the event's proceeds were directed to the endowment. In 2019, Jam for the Cure was registered as a 501c3 non-profit private foundation.

Testimonials

“Words cannot describe my happiness that your gift has meant to me. Thank you all so much for your dedication and hard work that made this possible. My heart and prayers go out to you and yours. Thank you.” -SH

“Jam for the Cure stepped in and offered us help with medical bills or gas gift cards. In the beginning of Madilyn's diagnosis we weren't sure what we would be dealing with as far as bills, we just knew we needed to get her to UofM for treatments. We received $750 in gift cards to help us get back and forth to the hospital. It was a huge weight lifted off our shoulders and we couldn't be more grateful and thankful for the help. We have never been one4s to ask for help, but in the hardest time of our lives we learned there are people out there who truly want to help receive some stress, so you can focus on that's important. Thank YOU to the Jam family, we are forever grateful.” -Toni S & the Mains Family.

“I wanted to thank you so much for the generous gift of the Shell gas cards! This will be so helpful for me getting to and from my many appointments. When I opened the envelope, I started crying. It just really means a lot to receive such a generous gift. Thank you for all that you do to support cancer survivors. This has not been an easy road, but receiving some financial support will be very helpful.” -CB

“I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the help and support you've shown me during my cancer battle. You helped alleviate some of the burden, and I will never forget your kindness.” - With love CF
